It has been a while since I posted on this blog, though I have put up a few postings on my other blog.
I have been having a great time in Tokyo.
One of the photographic issues I have been having is what equipment to bring with me when I go out.
My fully loaded camera bag weights in around 20lbs… It is a workout lugging it around all day. I have been offered a cart to put it on but I am not a fan of the constant vibration that would subject my gear to.
So on any particular day what to take with me?
My 50 and 85…. For sure
My 70-200… It draws a lot of attention…. I have been asked to stop shooting most often when I have this lens on
Lens baby? Difficult to carry… I keep it in a Tupperware container to protect it. After some feedback on my images I am using it less… people were getting tired of the effect.
My 100… Great macro lens… Tack sharp… don’t shoot Macro very often
Flash
Batteries
And of course my 1d body
Some times, when I want to draw very little attention, I put a small assortment into my MEC shoulder bag.
This requires me to guess what I will be shooting. As much as I plan, there is something I want that I left behind…
Great macro… Left the 100 behind…
Nice water shot… No polarizer
Intereting movement or sport left the 70-200 at the house.
To complicate issues, I had budgeted the purchase of a wide or a wide zoom ( I like buying used, so it depends on what I can find).
The shutter in my primary 1d gave up a couple of weeks ago. A un-budgeted expense. So I have to decide, fix the body, or buy a lens.
I plan on some side trips were both would be useful.
Tough decisions…. food or gear{jcomments on}
