There is a road that runs from Loja Ecuador, to Zamora.
This  is a very steep, twisty, climb from the central valley that runs down the sierra of the Andes over a pass to the East or “orient” side of the mountain range.  Zamora, where I presently live, is in the foothills in the area between the cloud forests, and the rain forests.
This road is one of my favourite roads to travel… it is like a roller coaster.  I have friends who get sick taking the bus on this road, due to the changes in elevation, and switchbacks.  It is an awesome ride on a motorcycle…. or at least it was.
The past 6-8 weeks have been devastating to this road.  The uncharacteristic number of  torrential rainfalls have created mud and rock slides that have closed the passage way for hours, or days. ( I have heard and read that this is part of the expected el nino event this year).
Today I took the bus from Loja to Zamora. I was sad thinking about this could be the last time that I ride this roller coaster ( since most of the Loja to Zamora is down hill it is always faster and more exciting). Â It was a very slow trip, with many sections one lane, and several places where water was flowing across the road. Â Not really the way I want to remember this road.
I started thinking of the Chapters of my life. Â My chapters usually end with leavings and saying goodbyes. This chapter will end with the goodbyes and the sadness of seeing what nature can do quickly to what man tries ( sometimes foolishly) to create and maintain.
I am getting tired of goodbyes.
This chapter will include the realization of who I really find important in my life.  The who are a couple of people living in Waterloo ( my parents)  I hope this chapter also includes the healing I needed to face some of my demons.  We will see as I return to the land I was born and raised.  Only time will tell.
