I like Hummingbirds.They are cool to watch and photograph.
I wanted to set-up a feeder where I could see it out of my window. I could not find one for sale, but the landlady had one she wasn’t using.
I set it up in the perfect location for me to keep an eye on it. And I waited. And I waited.
One night I came home from school and saw that the liquid level had decreased…. oh boy, hummingbirds.
Wrong.
The next day I saw hundreds of bees feeding on the sweet water. The feeder no longer 
had insect guards to keep the bees out. They were literally swimming and drowning in the water. To protect their lives, and to keep them out I fashioned some metal barriers… which were somewhat effective.
Now, I still haven’t seen a hummer at my feeder but the number of bees have decreased.
(at least I think they are bees, but they have different colouring then what I am used to.)
