In the past 10 years, as a photographer I have learned a lot about make up.
I have worked with some amazing make-up artists who have taught me so much about what to look for in a well designed and applied make-up application ( blend, blend, blend)
With this is mind, I am always looking at ladies’ make-up with a critical eye.
One thing to be said is, make-up for camera is different then make-up for day to day life. Even with these differences there is a good application, and some that leave a lot to be desired.(blend, blend, blend)
In Toronto, it wold be rare for me to look at a person and think how well done their make-up is.
Not so in Tokyo.
The application of make-up here is to a very high standard… some of the make-up I see is almost camera ready… and this is on a Sunday afternoon.
It is rare to see over the top applications, but the subtle shading and blending is exquisite….
There are different looks, the barbie doll look, the Loleta… and the just every day lady…..Not every lady is an expert, and there are the barbie dolls that have way to much on… but there are times when I see someone and I just want to applaud the work she has done.
