18 days and counting

18 days from now I should be getting on an airplane.

Again.

19 days from now I should be at my destination, a beautiful little fishing village on the coast of Ecuador.

How long will this trip be?

I have no idea.

I have a return ticket for the end of September, but it is cheaper to buy a return ticket and not use the return portion than it is to buy a one way.

I am now going over my final preparations for the next stage of my life.  I have been dealing with the modern levels of customer service (“sorry sir we can’t do that” “hold on let me transfer you to a supervisor” “Yes sir we can do that”)

I think I have a decent form of income. ( teaching english on-line )  I have bank accounts with 2 different banks, credit cards with 2 different companies, a new passport that expires in 10 years.

The biggest issues I have to deal with now is packing.  What to take, How to take it, and what to leave behind.  To add to the difficulty of this, I really don’t know where I will end up. The ability to teach online has opened up such a level of freedom that I am not sure what to do.  In the past, the need to settle in a location to create a source of income has been a deciding factor… but now I don’t have to be in any one location.  I just need a solid internet connection.

I want to travel light, but I also want to take necessities with me.

Think about this… What would you take with you on an extended journey?  What do you really need?  What would you like to take?  What can you live without?
