Its been awhile since my last posting. Between being hacked and then moving I just haven’t had the energy or desire to get back to it..
So where am I? I am in a little town (10,000?) nestled into the foothills of the Andes on the wet ( amazon) side in southern Ecuador.
What am I doing? I am teaching English… 6 hours a day, 5 days a week. My classes are small…and the age range is 5 to 19.
The problem classes for me are the youngest and the oldest. The youngest consists of 6 of the sweetest kids I have ever meet…. the problem is that the class has 7 students.
Trying to connect while I have such little Spanish is a challenge.
The oldest group ( my seniors class) is a challenge for other reasons. They are so good I need to keep coming up with ideas to keep them interested.
Where am I living? I am living in a zoo… literally. I have a room in an eco-refuge. There are monkeys, parrots, turtles, and other assorted animals in cages around me. It is very interesting to look out my window to watch the animals. The people that run this place are great! I have found a nice place to be for awhile.
Am I in Paradise? Not really… I think paradise is on the coast in a small fishing village called San Clemente….
What’s wrong with Zamora? The temperature is great, but the moisture level in the air is a bit much…. between the rainforest lower down, and the cloud forests further up the Andes 90% humidity is the norm…. dampness is an ongoing concern about anything. I worry most about my camera gear and have take precautions to protect it.
When will I return to Canada?I don’t know. I teach here until the end of July… after that…??
