I had a coffee chat with my Buddist friend the other day.
We were talking about beliefs and the idea of giving thanks came up.
Giving thanks to the plants that you are eating, giving thanks to the animals you are eating… Giving thanks to the people who made the umbrella that is keeping you dry…. Giving thanks to all the people involved in creating the technology that allows me to write this is a cafe in Tokyo and you to read it wherever you are.
Some people want to credit a higher power to give thanks to…. I have trouble with that.
I like the humbling feeling, the connectedness of saying thanks to those who gave so you could.
Thanks to the lemon tree that produced the fruit that makes this tea more enjoyable.
Thanks to you for caring enough to read this.
