I went for a walk this afternoon ( something I do a lot)
I was looking for a specific store…. and I was lost. I wasn’t LOST ( Oh my god where am I ) but I just could not figure out how to get there from here.
This is easy to do in Tokyo, since it is a city that grew together from several smaller cities, based around rivers…. streets do not run straight, or square.
I was thinking about pulling out my iphone and its gps to figure it out… but I thought I will just check it when I get home….
“I will just check it when I get home“…. home.
I have not had a place that I felt was home for a while.
When I received notice last year that I was losing my apartment, it was no longer my home.
When I staid with Chris in Japan, it was nice ( thank you Chris)… but not my home.
When I staid with my parents it was great, they are nice, it was relaxing, comfortable, welcoming…all I could ask for and more ( thanks Mom and Dad) but it was not my home.
I now feel like I have a place I can call a home…. and it feels good. It is not big, but I have amazing housemates, and it is my home.
Now all I have to do is convince the Japanese government that I should stay here for a while…. in my home.
