Height

I have never thought of myself as tall.  My father, and both of my brothers are taller then me.

I  have cousins that must be a full foot taller then I am.

In Canada I don’t really think too much about it, or if I do I just think of myself as average.

When I was in Tokyo, I expected to be above average height.  This had its advantage in being able to see over people and not feel closed in when in crowds.

I never thought that I would even think about this in other counties.

I was wrong.

I have hit my head more in Loja than any other place I have been.  I am too short to stand up on the buses.  I hit my head going up and down some stairs. I am not used to having to duck.

In one of my classes the students asked me what my height was.

Maybe average height is geography dependent.

One of the downsides of being “tall” is that I have trouble going unnoticed.  When photographing at markets people notice me, when al I want to do is fade into the scenery to get shots.
