A couple of days after my first “studio” session I had my first “for real” shoot… were I had to produce images for the project that had me on a airplane for 13 hours.
Having seen how badly my lighting had sucked for my “practice” session, I made some modification of placement. I didn’t want to loose the modelling I like so much on faces, but I needed to get rid of the sharp shadows. To achieve this I moved my shoot through closer to the subject, took the flash off camera and bounced it off the other wall as a fill, and used my third flash as a general wash.
To get a catch and help with focus, I added a small led video light on camera.
These, I think, were an improvement.
