16:12 A gorgeous day in loja today… High blue sky…. No clouds in the sky in the am… By late pm clouds are starting to come over the peaks, but it is still warm. If the weather was always like this, this place would be much more enjoyable.

I have to be in Cuenca for Monday to pick up my visa, so I plan to go for the weekend. Leave early sat which should give me time to start to explore the city. It is larger then loja and there seems to be more going on.  There is a large expat community there as well.

I have arranged a photo walk for Sunday. It will be interesting to see and meet new people

16:15 I had a great walk with Kirk yesterday in vilacabamba.  It was nice to be tired, but not sore after.

Today is 2 new classes, one of teachers and one that I am taking over from a departing teacher. This will put me at 8 hours a day… Heavier than I want but useful to pay some bills ( I have to pay for my visa next week)

I am also planning a couple of days photographing cueca next weekend( since I have to go for my visa)

10:52 I had an amazingly good sleep last night. I decided that I would put the blanket on the inside instead of the outside of my bed… I slept the whole night.  

This morning it is chilly but not raining, but I am sure that will change.

People are laughing at my bruises and scraps… Which is good. I like to laugh. I just wish this cold, which is now in my ears as well as my chest, would go away.

23:43 Strange where the mind can take you. There are times I wish I could just turn it off ( maybe that is why people like to escape into tv or video games)

My body is tired and a bit sore..I snuggle into my blankets… Can’t get comfortable… And all I can think about is the past and the future

Through stupidity on my part, I ended up sliding down a 15 foot embankment… Cuts scraps and wounded pride.

18:07 Today I feel like crap.

It is a bright sunny day, but it doesn’t lift me much.

I have a chest cold… I think I likely picked it up in the hospital… Not bad but it is kicking me.  Add to this that I think I passed my other stone, which means my insides are a little “tender”

The good thing is I understand what is happening, so no fear, just a PITA ( actually not in the Ass)

Today I only have 2 classes so I got to have extra sleep… And tomorrow is the weekend!!!!

21:05 End of the school day, end of an interesting week. Some good things some bad.

I have a better understanding of my body and health. I also know what I need to do to put together the TOFEL course ( I will be busy this weekend)

I was reading about the weather in North America and one thing that caught my eye was the likelihood of an el ninio event this year. This is not good news for the coast of Ecuador… Maybe I will rethink my idea of moving to the coast in September.

The weather in Loja may be dreary but it is consistent.

12:00 There is a wedding coming up in Canada I am going to miss. This is one of the sad parts about the life I have chosen… That I miss the important events in others lives while I live my own.

I don’t think I will be missed, the personalities that will be there will have a impact and all will have a good time. Usually with events like that I become an observer instead of a participant  anyway.

And I don’t come from a close family… Most emails to siblings go unanswered so I have stopped sending.

So I will likely raise a glass in toast to the couple from some place in Ecuador.
