Dog’s afternoon

I was sitting in the square where I spend my time people watching.

There are a large number of pigeons that hang out as well….you have to watch where you sit.

People feed the pigeons, and they flock to the ground to eat the corn. Loja also has a number of stray dogs. They are not very well fed.

As I was watching there were 2 young girls (9ish) feeding the pigeons. One of the strays came running up to try and catch dinner. The girls would scream at the dog and run at him..he would jump and try for a pigeon and the birds would scramble for the sky.

The girls would move to a different part of the square, and the whole scene would repeat itself. And they would move again…. Until the corn ran out.

I watched the dog for a little while( the girls had moved off)…. He never succeeded in getting dinner.

I don’t think he was very experienced because he would run at the birds from a long distance. The closest he came was a tail feather that fell off, which he chewed for 5 minutes. – Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
