15:03 The Friday before Christmas. I am sitting in class but I don’t expect any students. A normal Friday is usually pretty light…a Friday before a long weekend?
It is also payday, so we will see if the school comes through.

It doesn’t feel very much like Christmas and it makes me very happy. There is a buzz, but it isn’t over the top as it is in Canada.
I have 4 days off, but I have not planned much. This is mainly because I am not sure when and how much I am going to be paid, so I am not sure if my rent has to come from this….
I was thinking of going for a hike at some point. It has been a few weeks since I have done a serious stretch. I don’t have someone who is my level and interest to go with which make the interest level pretty low.
I have bought several movies, and plan to buy a couple more. At $1.50 per copy, $10 or $12 can buy a lot of viewing hours.
I also have loaded up my KOBO so I don’t have to worry about being bored!
I have been working hard on submitting images to stock photo sites on-line. You can see my trials and tribulation with this on my lazy photographer blog.
This has been an interesting experience, and even if it doesn’t make any money, it will be well worth the time and effort.

8:44 Three weeks ago I was happy. Now not so much.
The new administrators are very disorganized…. Their marketing is dismal so there are few students, but the worst part is the person they have brought in to be co-ordinator is completely incompetent.
Wonderboy feels that teachers should be treated like construction workers. I don’t think he has ever worked with educators or educated people before. I feel sorry for him since he is over his head…. and I don’t think he even realises it.
I am so looking forward to the end of the cycle ( Feb ) so I can move on.

20:06 I saw a post about the passing of someone I didn’t know and was going to post this in the thread… but thought it may be bad taste…… For those who knew Helen you have my sympathy…. for those ( like me) who did not know her, we need to remember that this time of year can be so painful for those who are suffering …….. In memory of Helen keep an eye and ear on those who may be in the same situation… and from personal experience a hug and “I care” can help. It may not save all or any …..depression and mental illness is such a difficult thing to deal with…. but there is no down side to trying.

20:47 I am in Rio Negra, listening to regatron… And how I got here is a bit of a story.
First Rio Negro is a very small village about 45 Klms east of Banos. It is also a long way from Cuenca.
I was talking last week with a friend who got caught in the school political shuffle and was out of work. I told her my plan about photo tours. She mentioned an uncle who did tours.
She suggested we get together. After a couple of emails, I got on the 22:30 bus from cuenca to Quito. ( had an “interesting” encounter with a drunk engineering student…. Who ended up pukeing into sick bags on the bus) At 4:45 it let me out at the aide of the road on the out skirts of Ambato… I waited for Peebles bus to arrive from Loja… And then we caught a bus to Banos.
We arrived in Banos about 8:00.
Her uncle is running a two day race this weekend… Mountain biking, climbing, white water rafting, and hiking. Tonight is a party where the participants are camping, and this includes a loud band and DJ… I guess it is a sign of age that I am not happy about the volume… Or the tunes…
I am not sure what the locals think either…. I am sure this is a new experience for them.
They are mixing things up now.. They have 3 guys doing some trance with computer, keyboard and iPhone….

7:42 Waiting for the autobus. As usual I am early.
It is another beautiful day in Loja. This has been about 6 or7 days of high blue skys
I have a seat on the 8:00 bus to Cuenca. It isn’t direct so it will take 4 or 5 hours.
The Show at the bus terminal is always interesting. People laughing people crying beggars kids oldsters different indigenous groups.

9:06 It has been an interesting couple of days.
My boss has been removed, as well as several staff members. Not sure how this worked since it was a franchise with a contract. I saw this coming but I was hoping it would be a couple of months out.
The big problem with this is the management style of the people now in charge. It is the opposite of my employment style. One of the main reasons I have been thinking about moving on is because of this.
I am seriously looking at all my options.
Right now I am on good terms with the school but after a few months I am not sure. I know how I am and I hope I can keep myself under control.
I am planning my weekend in Cuenca. I have only been able to touch base with one school, but I will be meeting with them on Friday.
I will also spend some time looking around to see if I like the city.

And it is a nice warm day in Loja. Sun is shining, no clouds in the sky( which means it will rain heavily later) and a temp of +20
I plan to visit Cuenca for a couple of days this week… Exploratory tour to see if it suits me…and to take pictures ( of course)
