Keitais are everywhere.
The Japanese cell phone is an amazing feat of technology.
Besides being able to talk on it, people use it to send emails( it is great to watch some one send a message using the standard number keypad, but selecting one of the 40+ characters in the language) These devices can take photos, and movies… Just like north americian phones.
One of the cool usages of the camera, is the ability to read QR codes on signs, and ads. These codes contain website URLs that give you more info, codes or coupons.
They also have tv ( off air)
The ability to have credit loaded onto it that can be used to buy Metro as well as shops and restaurants. If you go to some place, such as McDonalds, you can accept coupons, enter your order, and take care of payment all by swiping your phone at the counter.
The phone is also a fashion statement, with interchangeable covers to match your outfit. The iPhone is popular, not because of it’s ability ( there are a lot of features missing that are normal in a phone) but because it is cool.
