How is this going to shape Canada in the future.<\/p>\n
The Great Depression in the 30s\u00a0 and WWII created a couple of generations ( my parents) of savers.<\/p>\n
The boomers ( my generation) are consumers ( maybe over consumers)<\/p>\n
What will the generation of this latest wave of immigrants bring…
consumers ( rebuilding their lives)
savers ( hanging on to what they have)
more focused ( they know what it is like to leave everything behind)<\/p>\n
I think this is one of the most interesting aspect of my adventure..going from a culture where differences are expected, encouraged and celebrated, to a culture where difference is discouraged, and uniqueness is rare.{jcomments on}<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
I have been talking (a lot..too much?) about my upcoming trip..about packing my life to fit into storage and 2 suitcases.<\/p>\n
A good friend of mine ( an immigrant from eastern Europe) said she knows what it is like to put your life into 2 suitcases.<\/p>\n
This got me thinking…<\/p>\n
A large percentage of Canadian are immigrants ( > 40% in Toronto I believe)<\/p>\n
