12:00 There is a wedding coming up in Canada I am going to miss. This is one of the sad parts about the life I have chosen… That I miss the important events in others lives while I live my own.
I don’t think I will be missed, the personalities that will be there will have a impact and all will have a good time. Usually with events like that I become an observer instead of a participant anyway.
And I don’t come from a close family… Most emails to siblings go unanswered so I have stopped sending.
So I will likely raise a glass in toast to the couple from some place in Ecuador.

18:53 Started teaching a new class today to some English teachers… They may know grammar but their speaking skills are pretty low. This will be interesting to try and improve their skills for an upcoming TOFEL test.
I am finding I am getting chilly very quickly. I noticed the same thing in Tokyo the last time I was at this weight. I now understand why students wear coats to class.

13:46 Spent the morning in Emergency ( passed a Kidney stone…I am OK) I was very impressed with the staff and care…. quicker and better then I have had in a long time… 3 hours in emerg IV Doctors consult a shot and a pill a couple of litres of water A CAT scan And the total was…..$135.00

16:49 I awoke this morning feeling strange.
I did not have a good sleep, kept waking on my back.
I expected some pain, but not in my back, and not where it was coming from ( right side flank).. I had fallen yesterday, but not on that side, and it was more of a skid.
As I got up and started moving around it got worse… I lied down and it got worse…I had some tea and it got worse….had a drink of water and then vomited.
I was supposed to be subbing for another teacher, but a had to call in. I phoned about 8 saying that I might not be able to make it. I called about 8:30 saying I had to go to the hospital…
I live with pain ( ankles knees muscles) so the pain wasn’t my main concern… More what was going on… Though the pain was something new for me. On my pain scale it was about a 6…
I went to the hospital that my insurance covers… And did not know were to go.
A gentleman took me to the 4 th floor… The woman at the desk took my passport… Typed in some information then walked me past a waiting area straight into a doctors examination room. 15 minutes later I had an IV a shot for the pain and initial diagnostic of a Kidney stone.
They then had me drink 2 liters of water and a IV bag until my bladder was full. Then they wheeled me for a Cat scan ( the first I have had) and then to the washroom. 10 mins later the doctor showed me my stones on a sheet like an xray After a little while I was given some pills and on my way. I had to pay for this with my visa… Total cost $135…..

20:54 Did a hike in Zamora today… the sign says 85 mins to the look out…. what the sign doesn’t say is straight up…walking to the top equvalient to 1 1/2 times the CN tower? It is going to hurt tomorrow.

I had an amazing trip to podacarpus in Zamora.. Went with the Aussies, Rena, mr b, Tania, and her daughter.
We climbed to the lookout. A pretty strenuous hike… If Mandango is a 6 then this is a 6.5 or 7. I made it, after everyone else.Â
Then the waterfalls… And swimming in the river. I passed on the swim. The current is strong and I am not a powerful swimmer.
Dinner in Zamora and then back to loja.

12:39 They sell little green fruits called lemons, which I know as limes. I am addicted to them…. squeeze one into a glass of water and it tastes so good and refreshing. i just bought 15 of these and a bunch ( 8) bananas…. it was $1.50
