11:25 Last day… I have a seat on the 15:00 bus to Guayaquil and from there I need to find the bus to Loja. I am planning on a couple hour wait in the terminal…. And the ride back will be 8 to 9 hours. I figure if I get a 8 or 10 bus

Mr b is staying for a few more nights…he found a place that will do 40 for 5 nights…. It is the off season. The place isn’t as nice as where we were, but I have staid in worse… Much worse.

14:15 My last day was warm…almost hot… Low 30’s ?

I can understand why the locals thought yesterday was cold… It only was in the low 20’s

I am waiting on a 3 o’clock bus… My feet and shoes are covered in sand and a little damp. The smell might become interesting by the time I hit loja.

19:12 Sitting in the Guayaquil bus terminal. Have about 1/2 an hour left to wait. I am catching the 20:00 bus… Which from my fractured thinking should get in at 04:00.  I don’t know how many stops it makes so….

I could have taken the executo direct bus at 23:30…. But I would rather be trying to sleep on a bus instead of trying to stay awake at the terminal. 

I had a great weekend in Montanita  the food was excellent, hotel was good, company was good. Now I need to get back to Loja. I have a lesson at 17:00 tomorrow, and I need to finalize things for my photo course next week.

8:57 We are staying in a hotel right on the beach. The price is $15 per person for Saturday $10 Sunday and monday…. Clean, hot shower ( rare in Ecuador) nice staff.

Went to sleep with the sound of the surf

Last Night we wandered around the town. It was like someone was giving a big party, but most Of The guests had not arrived. 

It is the off season.  Will have to come back on a holiday to see what it is like.

20:10 Took the day to take pictures… Some touristy some artistic.  It will take a couple of days when I get in front of my computer to sort.

It gets a little chilly in the evening. Off the coast of Ecuador is the humbolt current…
Basically a river of cold water direct from
The antarctic.   This means
That the sea breezes have a chill to them

I meet a guy on the beach yesterday who was taking pics with a girl in bikini. Talked with him a bit, he runs a web site that has a girl of the week….

Sunday night is very relaxed… Alcohol is not supposed to be served… Things have a much more chilled atmosphere.

I was talking with a guy about cameras , when I was distracted by a 30ish looking lady who was running by… The guy said ” you like the old ones..”. ” she is likely still too young for me….”

6:14 It is 6 am and we are closer to our first stop.

The coach we are riding is pretty cool… The bus is new with reclining seats, and leg rests.  We were searched before we got on the bus and it has been a non-stop trip.

Surprisingly I slept…

10:01 Culture shock… After spending months in small town Ecuador, I was not prepared for the Guayaquil bus terminal…
New, clean and BIG!  There were 150+ departure bus bays on three different floors. Inside the terminal is larger then Vancouver airport…. Almost the size of the eaton centre.

The direct bus to Montanita didn’t leave until 13:00 so we decided to take some local buses and see were we end up.

5:33 5:30 am and I am awake…. I hear the rooster crowing
Today is going to be a long day. I have exams to give and mark.  My last class ends at 21:00…my marks have to be submitted because at 24:00 I want to be on a bus to Guayaquil

The plan is the mr b and I will take the night bus. In the am we will grab a bus to Liberadid… From there we take a bus up the route de sol and get off in Montanita.

Mr b says he wants to relax… But Montanita is a real ( supposed ) party town. I don’t have  a preference..

18:07 It is about half an hour until my next class. I have all my exams marked and grades done for my other 2

21:50 Finished all I needed to get done in plenty of time. It is amazing what you can accomplish  if you plan and work at it.

My boss gave me a ride to to bus. We were talking about the beach, life in loja and…..

Now at the bus station with time to spare. I like people watching at stations and there is a collection of people here.

Their are indigenous with their black hats and dresses… There is the mandatory drunk ( every bus terminal in the world has one)… There are the “hippies” with their guitars… The gringo tourists, who look a little afraid… Families with kids… Luggage, boxes, someone is  carrying a couple of new motorcycle tires… TVs are tuned to soap operas or a bad film…

It is a busy place on a Friday Night

9:03 Looking forward to my days off.  Two days of giving and marking exams then off to the coast.

Also have a business idea I want to develop… After taking a couple of years off I think it is time to get back into it.

12:21 A sunshiny day in Loja. This is the third day in a row. Looking up at the mountains they are clear of clouds as well. Have to really watch for sun burns.

This is the last week of class for this cycle. Finals are thursday and Friday.  Friday night I hope to be on a night bus to the coast.

It will be 12-14 hours to get there… With one or two changes in buses. I will be traveling with Mr B.

He plans to find a place and just hunker down for 7 to 10 days.

My plans are to…. Well I really don’t have plans. I do need to be back in Loja by Wednesday to do some more work and promo on my photo course.
