Japanese people like to travel, to see the world.
I will admit that I have only been talking with a sample that includes people who know English or want to learn English, so my sample is very unscientific ( kinda like some of the election polls).
It amazes me the amount of travel that some of the people I have met have done.
20 countries by the time they are in their 30’s is not uncommon. The countries they go to are varied. Hawaii is high on the list, as is Korea, Hong Kong, Australia but so is Russia, Mongolia, Morocco, Tunisia, and all over Europe.
One of the important factors about if they will recommend or return to a place is the food.
If the food is the same or boring ( the biggest complaint about Mexico) then they did not like it.
Food is such an important part of the Japanese identy and pleasure that if you want to operate a tour for them, you better have interesting cuisine.
Starting on Friday there are 4 national holidays in 5 or 6 days…. Golden week.
From what people are telling me, the whole country will be on the move… Visiting their home town, visiting other countries, some are volunteering with the relief effort.
I won’t be traveling, just exploring Tokyo{jcomments on}
