The story so far….
I haven’t written for a while, but I have been busy.
My return to Canadian has been bitter sweet…. It is great to see people that I know and love, but I also miss Tokyo.
This winter has been very cold and snowy, and I am not prepared to deal with it. I have pulled some of my winter stuff out of storage, but not having a place of my own, I did not to take it all.
I spent January taking a Teach English as a Second Language (TESL) course. I now have the certificate.
I wasn’t expecting a lot from the course, but I was very pleasantly surprised. The instructor was excellent. I t allowed me to think a lot about education and how pwople learn, which will be great for my workshops.
The certificate should also be very useful to help me find ways to fund this travel bug that now has gripped me. During the course there was discussions on places to teach…. the idea of teaching near a beach in Fiji seems very attractive…. especially when I think of the -17 temp and the forecast for yet anther snow storm.
Still subject to change, I plan to leave Toronto the end of Feb, spend a week with Family in Edmonton, then off to Tokyo.
I ahve been looking at the web for places to stay in Tokyo, I want to to move into a guest house…. shared houses with private rooms.
Criteria:
no more then 5 people per shower room.
kitchen
house ( 5 to 10 rooms max)
Washing machine on site ( or extremely close
Internet
located shinjiku, Nakano, Shibuya
The cost for a place like this will be in the 6 to $800 range per month……
Not sure how much it would cost to live near a beach in Fiji….. 🙂 🙂
