Repair

I took one of my 1ds into the Canon service center in Shinjiku to have them quote on it’s repair.

Basically the shutter has worn out… this camera has had a lot of use in the years I have owned it.

Â¥900,000 plus tax….. over $1000

Tough decision.

I recently picked up a used body in great shape for less then that.

The money could be used to prolong my stay, purchase another lens, or just live less of the artist life style.

On the other side… I fell really nervous only having one working body.

I have found my self shooting less because of this. I don’t want to put my camera in jepordy.
I am not comfortable without a hot back-up so a replacement would have to be purchased.

A new body is out of the question right now ( at least with the specs and quality I want)

A used body will have wear on it and I will not know it’s previous owner/ history. Any camera body purchase I have made in the past has been from someone I know and trust… I don’t have those contacts here.

The repair will be brand new mechanical’s…. I like that body…. We have been through a lot together.

I told them to repair it
